Description

Intended for the professional forester as well as the amateur naturalist, this book is the successor of Native Trees of Canada. The changed name reflects the inclusion of non-native species. It is unquestionably the finest identification book available for Canadian trees, covering buds, flowers, twigs, leaves, bark, general shape and, in fact, all characteristics of a tree that are readily observable.

Trees are organized into 12 groups, based primarily on leaf shape and arrangement. The groups are listed as an illustrated key, just inside the covers, making it easy to turn to the proper section with detailed descriptions and photographs. Excellent color photography and inclusion of non-native species will make this an essential library addition, even for those who already have its predecessor.

Hardcover, 7” × 10”, 502 pages, revised 2017.
