Through anecdotes about his travels and fellow CBG makers he has met along the way, the author sheds light on the practicalities as well as the passion behind the craft.

The author outlines the basics on the instruments and the tools used to make them, before explaining how to build a simple fretless CBG, a fretted acoustic CBG, and a six-string electric version with homemade sound pick-ups. He includes interviews with over a dozen notable builders, players and enthusiasts, along with photo galleries showing inspiring examples of old and new hand-built cigar box guitars.
