Spring is the busiest time of year in the garden. There are seeds to be sown and new plants to be put into beds and borders. Here is your chance to acquire some gardening wisdom before the season starts. Learn about dividing your plants, encouraging healthier plants and fertilizing, and get some tips on pruning.

Instructor Bio

Originally from England, Amanda Jarrett has gardened in countries from the far north to the tropics. Always an advocate of working with nature, she is a SOUL (Society of Organic Urban Land Care) certified Organic Land Care professional and has her Red Seal in Horticulture. The author of Ornamental Tropical Shrubs (2003), she is the coordinator and instructor for the Residential Landscape Technician diploma at Douglas College as well as the Organic Master Gardener and the Ecological Landscape Design programs at Langara College. She loves to teach the art of gardening to both professionals and non-professionals, and her garden consulting company offers advice to home gardeners and businesses regarding landscape design, low-maintenance planting, troubleshooting and organic methods.

Registration Requirements

Seating is Limited. Please register early to avoid disappointment. Unless otherwise stated, previous experience is not required to participate in seminars and attendees should be 16 years old or older. Seminar tickets are not available online.

Tools & Materials

All tools and materials will be supplied.

Food & Drink

Beverages are provided at our seminars and a light sandwich lunch is provided at all-day events. Please discuss any special dietary needs with the staff at time of registration. In an effort to reduce waste, we encourage you to bring in your own coffee mug and/or refillable water bottle.

What to Wear

We require that you wear closed shoes (e.g. running shoes) to all seminars.
