Beginner Woodturning

This workshop is for those who are interested in investigating the art of woodturning, as well as those who just need a refresher, since lathes, gouges and techniques have evolved over the years. You will learn how the lathe functions, the necessary safety procedures, some sharpening, and the basic techniques of using various cutting profiles for turning spindles. You will see everything demonstrated and then have time to turn a few wooden projects. All tools and materials supplied.

Instructor Bio

Brad Kleinsasser has been woodworking most of his life. He has over thirty years of woodturning experience, making all sorts of items including bowls, pens and open spirals from a variety of materials. His experience in multi-axis turning includes various techniques, both with spindle and faceplate work. He is a member of the Woodturners Association of Manitoba. In addition to woodturning, he practices pyrography, leathercraft and furniture building.

Registration Requirements

Seating is Limited. Please register early to avoid disappointment. Unless otherwise stated, previous experience is not required to participate in seminars and attendees should be 16 years old or older. Seminar tickets are not available online.

Tools & Materials

All tools and materials will be supplied.

Food & Drink

Beverages are provided at our seminars and a light sandwich lunch is provided at all-day events. Please discuss any special dietary needs with the staff at time of registration. In an effort to reduce waste, we encourage you to bring in your own coffee mug and/or refillable water bottle.

What to Wear

We require that you wear closed shoes (e.g. running shoes) to all seminars.
