This product started life as a compact tool for campers and canoeists, for digging a mini-latrine or to shower dirt on a dying campfire; however, it also makes an excellent gardener's trowel.

Made of stainless steel, it has a step at the base of the handle that serves as a spring blade-lock, as well as a shelf for your hand when you are forcing the trowel into the soil. 9" long overall, it folds to 5 1/2" and comes with a nylon sheath. Weighs 6 oz.
