Veritas 40th Anniversary Dual Marking Gauge

In celebration of Lee Valley's 40th anniversary, we are offering a special edition of our dual marking gauge, turned from stainless steel and machined to a fine finish.

The independently adjustable rods let you set two measurements at once, so you can quickly alternate between them when transferring or marking repetitive dimensions. Projection up to 5 3/4" is easy to set, since an internal O-ring keeps light but constant friction on each rod; a thumbscrew locks the setting.

For this special edition, we are also including a shaft clamp (usually sold separately). This accessory fits onto the gauge's guide rods, letting you lock the relative position of the cutters while still being able to freely adjust the fence for offset. This allows you to preserve identical mortise or tenon sizing even when the fence is repositioned.

The hardened steel wheel cutters scribe cleanly, even on cross grain. The opposing bevels of the two cutting wheels ensure that you can always set the bevel in the waste side of a cut, and because one rod has its cutting edge at the extreme end of the rod, it is useful for transferring dimensions such as tenon shoulder and mortise depth. You can retract either cutter into the face for safe storage or to more easily use a single cutter.

The eccentric placement of the rods ensures a large reference face and helps the gauge resist rolling on a surface. 7 1/4" overall.

Like our 35th anniversary marking gauge, this gauge is produced in limited numbers. You shouldn't wait before buying – unlike the company it celebrates, it won't be around for a long time.
