Adirondack California-Style Furniture Plans

This style of furniture first appeared in the early 1900s in the Adirondack Mountains in upper New York State. Now you can find them coast to coast on patios and decks. Comfortable to sit in, they were traditionally built of pine, but they can also be made with teak, California redwood, white cedar or white oak – woods that weather well.

Each of these 36" × 48" plans is complemented with a detailed and well-written instruction book that contains a bill of materials, a cutting list, jig and fixture plans (where necessary), alternative construction notes and suggested finishing techniques.

The chair has a low seat, wide arms and a curved back with a three-position adjustment that makes it comfortable for all sizes of sitters. A special method of installing the seat slats eliminates the weathering that occurs with these chairs, causing loose screws and nails that tear clothes. A footstool plan is included. The chair measures 40" high by 34" wide and 34" deep.

The loveseat complements the chair and footstool to make a complete set that is perfect for the patio. It's ideal for reading, visiting with a friend or just idling away the hours. The loveseat measures 40" high by 51" wide and 34" deep.
