| You do not need to register or login to shop on our Web site. If
you would like to place an order online, you have the option of either shopping
as a guest user or registering with us. As a registered user, you will save
time on subsequent visits by not having to re-enter your billing information.
You can also access the contents of your shopping cart from any computer using
your personalized login. For more benefits, please see the list below. You will
not receive mail, e-mails or telephone calls from other companies as a result
of registering. |

Click on "Login", found in the left menu
bar and at the top right corner of the page.
Click on the "Register" button. Complete the form, including all fields marked
with  .

| Currency Selection |

The Lee Valley e-commerce site is a
multi-currency site. Our pages display prices in either Canadian funds or U.S.
funds. The International currency setting displays prices in U.S. funds.
On your first visit, you will be asked to select a currency before browsing.
After that, we will read your currency setting from your "cookies". If placing an order, your currency setting must match the
country of your designated shipping address.

In order to properly use our site, you
need to have your computer's security settings such that cookies are enabled.
A "cookie" is a small data file stored on your computer's hard drive containing
information relating to your visit to our site, such as currency selection and
shopping cart contents. When you leave and then return to our site, this
information is recalled, saving you from entering it again. For example, if
there was an interruption while browsing the Internet, your shopping cart
selections would still be available, in the currency you had selected, the next
time you connected to our site.

How to Use Our Site
You can browse our products in two ways:

By Index

 Click on one of the index
tabs found in the upper left corner. The index will list all the broad
categories of products (adhesives, books, chisels, drilling, etc). By clicking
on a category, you will see the products or product groups contained in that
index. From there, you will be able to see photographs and read descriptions of
the specific products.

By Item
Search

Click on the 
button found in the menu on the left.

Type the word(s) that describe the item you are looking for and click on the
"Go" button. In most cases, a one- or two-word entry will provide the best
search results.
To narrow your search to only woodworking or only gardening items, click on the
appropriate button before clicking on the "Go" button.
Example:
If you are searching for a chisel and are not sure which brand or style you
want, type "chisel" in the input box and the search will return a number of
results that relate to chisels in general.
If you are interested in a specific style of chisel (e.g., framing chisel),
type "framing chisel" and the search will return fewer items, but all will be
specific to framing chisels.
Viewing the results of your search:
For your convenience, we have provided three choices for viewing your search
results. Click on one of these buttons to view your search results in the
format you prefer. The set of search results currently displayed will be
highlighted with a darker background and white text and the word "Shown" (as
below).
Index Entries will provide the fewest number of results and will
include broad categories of products, from which you can then select a more
specific product group.
Pages will provide a larger list, including all pages that
contain products related to your keyword(s).
Items provides the greatest number of results, displayed as icon
images, for all the individual products that we sell that relate to your
keyword(s).
To return to the search results list from a display page, click on

If you are already a customer and receive our
catalogs, or know the product codes of the items you are interested in, you can
use our convenient "Enter Item #" feature. This can be found on the left-side
menu. Simply enter the product code and click on "Go". You will be taken to the
page for that product. |

| Adding Items to Your Shopping Cart |
| |
You can start adding products to your
shopping cart at any time during your visit, even before you register. Simply
click on the gold cart symbol in the product price line. A window will open to
confirm the product, price, and availability. Enter the quantity you wish to
order and click on "Add/continue" to continue shopping or click on "Add/view
cart" to proceed to the checkout or review what you have ordered.

If you know the catalog product number of
the item you want to order, click on "Quick Shop" in the left menu bar. Enter
the product number and quantity desired in the boxes provided. Use the tab key
to move from box to box. If you need more boxes, click on "Enter More Items".
When you have finished entering your item(s), click on "Confirm Stock".

Your list of items will be displayed,
complete with quantity ordered, description, stock availability, and price, as
well as any special instructions regarding the items. You can then choose to
add or modify the items or proceed to the checkout.

| Managing Items in
Your Cart |

Once items have been placed in your shopping cart and
you are ready to proceed to the checkout, you have the option of either
purchasing the items right away, saving them for a later date or adding
them to your Wish List.

If you wish to save an item for a future purchase,
click on the yellow "Purchase Later" button. The item will be moved to the
lower part of your cart, under "Items to Purchase Later". When you are ready to
purchase any of your saved items, click on the gold "Add to Cart" button and
then proceed to the checkout. As a registered user, you can access the contents
of your shopping cart, "Items to Purchase Later" and your Wish List from any
computer using your personalized login.

| Checking Out |

 When you are ready to complete your
order, you can proceed to the checkout by clicking on "View Cart" at the top
right or along the left side of your screen. Review the content of your order
in your shopping cart and click on "Checkout" to proceed. If you would like to
have the order shipped to a different address, click on "Ship to a Different
Address". If the order is a gift, we will be happy to include a card; enter the
message, as you would like it to appear on the card, in the "Additional Order
Notes" box. Confirm your billing/shipping address and click on "Purchase". Your
shopping cart total will now be shown along with shipping charges and all
applicable taxes. Fill out the credit card information at the bottom and click
on "Purchase". You will automatically be given your order number.

order. You will be sent a confirmation e-mail with your order number and
