Rikon Spindle Sander – Using the Sander and Tilting the Table
The spindle sander requires the use of proper techniques to deliver the desired results. Here are suggestions to help you start.

Using the Spindle Sander
As a general guideline, bear in mind these pointers.
1) Connect the machine to a dust extractor before use.
2) Always feed the work gradually in the direction of the spindle rotation (Photo 7).

Photo 7 – For control, feed the work against the direction of the spindle rotation.
3) Do not force the work, using light to medium pressure for best sanding results.
4) Choose the largest spindle that can handle the curve at hand for the smoothest transition result.
5) For sanding at an angle, put in the oval insert and use the table area in front of the spindle.
Changing the Table Angle
To perform sanding at an angle, the table can be adjusted between 0° and 45°. The steps to tilt the table to any desired angle are as follows.
1) Loosen the gyratory wrench that locks the table; this provides some clearance to reach in and remove the table insert (Photo 8).

2) Turn the geared/rotation handle to tilt the table to the desired angle (Photo 9).

3) Tighten both the locking handle and the rotation knob.
