Based on a thermometer invented in 1780 by British scientist James Six, this wall-mounted instrument displays the current temperature as well as highs and lows over a period of time.
It consists of two alcohol-filled glass tubes; as temperatures rise and fall, two metal indicators move up and down with the liquid, remaining fixed at their minimum and maximum points until reset when you pass an included magnetic knob over them.
The 9 1/4" × 3" wall plaque is made of wax-finished torrefied maple – hard maple that is kiln-baked to a rich, dark color, making it resistant to swelling and shrinkage caused by humidity changes. It has laser-etched scales in Celsius and Fahrenheit (-40°C/-40°F to 50°C/120°F), and a keyhole slot in the back for mounting (screws not included).
Indoor use only. Made in Canada.
