Developed by the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF), these seed mixes are specifically formulated to provide the high oil content birds need for energy during mating, migrating and overwintering periods. 100% of CWF profits on these products are reinvested in their bird conservation projects in Canada.
The small bird seed mix, for species such as warblers, chickadees, finches and other songbirds of similar size, has white millet, niger, canola, flax, peanut pieces and sunflower chips. The medium-large bird seed blend is suitable for most other songbird varieties and contains black oil sunflower, striped sunflower, peanut halves and safflower. These are pure mixes – neither blend contains corn, wheat or other fillers. SQF (Safe Quality Foods) certified.
Each comes in a re-sealable 2kg bag for easy storage.
The National Audubon Society gives these tips to help stop the spread of bird diseases such as avian flu. Clean feeders and bird baths with a solution of nine parts water to one part bleach every two weeks. Use multiple feeders to make it easier for birds to feed at a distance from each other, and remove feces and seed casings from below feeders regularly.
