Dear Customer,

It is said that Mozart, as a child, used to worry that all possible combinations of musical notes would have been tried by other composers before he was able to reach his stride. If he had been more of a mathematician, he would have realized that his fears were groundless.

It is similar at Lee Valley. Each year we wonder how we can possibly find enough new product to freshen the catalogue and keep you coming back. This, too, seems to be a groundless concern. We find new products in the most unexpected places and in addition to all the new items you will see in this catalogue, there is a product development list of more than 50 items at Veritas Tools, our manufacturing arm.

Products you don't see in this catalogue, but that are just over the horizon, include a micro-adjust router table fence, a double-edged flush-cut saw, a small and graceful 5 oz. claw hammer, a Victorian-style cast-iron workbench base… and so it goes. Do you hear the violins in the background? Do you feel your resolve slipping? I hope so.

Yours sincerely,Leonard G. LeePresident

P.S. The Canadian dollar has taken a beating again this past year. At the worst it was down 5% against the British pound, between 12% and 19% against other main European currencies, and a full 20% against the Japanese yen. As this letter is being written in early August, it has regained a bit of strength, but we still had to build some of the depreciation into our prices.
