Description

Dear Customer,

Two of my favorite new items in this catalog are both unrelated to furniture or cabinetry.

The first is the selection of Brinks Push-Pull-Rotate doorknobs on page ii in the “New for 2018” section at the beginning of this catalog. While these have been on the market for a few years, they have not gained the consumer traction that they deserve. Perhaps it’s in the name, or that you just have to try them to see how well they work, but every house could use at least one set. Think of them as the “hands-full” doorknob, or the “panic bar” doorknob: operated with the push of an elbow or the nudge of a hip, and ideal for the door to the laundry room or garage. What’s most impressive is how solidly they’re made and operate. The sound they make alone is a foley artist’s dream.

The other favorite is the FlexiSnap magnetic access panels on page vii in the same section. If you can make a cut in drywall with a knife or saw, that’s all you need to install these paintable panels; it’s that easy. Typical applications would be to access cut-off valves in walls or ceilings, or to provide access to plumbing for built-in tubs or spas. It is an elegant and easy-to-install solution.

The other thing these items share is that you may have walked past one or both in your local building center already. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell what makes a product unique with only a quick glance at the package.

I guess it just goes to show that there is still a purpose for print and product copy, which is a good thing for us – as long as you remember where you really saw it first!

Cheers,

Robin C. Lee Presiden
