Description

Tansu (the Japanese word for “trunk”) refers to a variety of trunks, chests, boxes and storage cabinetry popular in Japan from about 1650 to 1920. Combining the skills of the cabinetmaker, blacksmith and lacquer artist, Tansu can run the gamut from simple unadorned cabinetry to ornate chests using 100 or more pieces of hardware.

This painted black X-brace is formed from 1.5mm thick steel. The exposed faces have an embossed texture to give a forged look. The leaves are 120mm long and 17mm wide.
