Q: How does the cover work?
A gear train links the lever to the switch, so pulling the lever turns the light on and off.
45K3999 - Gears & Lever Light Switch Cover Kit

There's something almost magical about gluing together pieces of wood, then seeing them come to life. Not only is this kit an excellent project for children and adults to work on together, but when it's completed, it acts as an ornate and functional light switch plate that turns the switch on and off with a pull of the lever.
Suitable for ages 9 and up, the kit contains pre-cut, sanded pieces of tulip poplar and Baltic birch plywood along with a detailed instruction booklet. The wood can be painted or stained prior to assembly for a custom look.
Assembly takes 1 to 2 hours, requiring just sandpaper (included), a flat-head screwdriver and a gel-based heavy-duty glue (neither included).
Measures about 5 3/4" tall by 4 3/4" wide when completed, with assembly options for toggle and rocker-style light switches.
