55K6706 - Build-Your-Own Skateboard Kit
Quantity:
If the idea of building a birdhouse with you doesn’t catch your teen’s interest, here’s a project that just might. Developed by Toronto skateboard builders Roarockit, the kit has everything you need to make a laminated-wood street deck, along with the wheels and the hardware used to mount them.
It comes with a Thin Air vacuum press and a mold, used to form the seven precision-cut sheets of 1/16" thick Canadian maple veneer into a strong, warp-resistant 31" × 8" board with the classic “double-kick” shape. The bottom veneer sheet is aniline dyed to a rich hue and pre-drilled to simplify mounting the wheels.
The kit also includes four 2 1/8" dia. polyurethane wheels, eight high-quality steel bearings and aluminum wheel trucks, as well as a scraper, sandpaper, 16 oz of Titebond PVA glue, a glue roller, all fasteners and PSA-backed grip tape for traction on the top of the board. Only a few common tools are needed to install the fasteners.
Once the first board is finished, refill kits (sold separately) let you make more decks with the same press and mold.
Made in Canada. Color and other visual characteristics of the wheels, trucks and dyed plywood sheet may vary, depending on supply.
