The game of jacks has been around in one form or another for over 2000 years. It can be as simple or as complex as you wish to make it, which is one reason for its longevity.
Ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans played using small pieces of rock or bone; the metal jacks used today may have originated during wartime, when children used scraps from metal castings.
This set includes ten large cast zinc jacks (five silver-colored, five gold-colored), two rubber balls, plus game instructions, all in a tin box. A timeless gift. For ages 4 and up. Color of balls may vary.

To play a game of jacks, scatter the jacks onto a hard, flat surface, then bounce the ball and pick up one jack before catching the ball. Once you've collected all the jacks, repeat, but pick up two at a time, then three, and so on, up to ten. If you miss a catch or pick up the wrong number of jacks, your turn ends.
