The Original Tim Mechanical Bird

Developed in France in 1969, this battery-free flying bird was inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's ornithopter concepts, transforming a centuries-old fascination with flapping-wing flight into a simple mechanical toy. Powered by a rubber-band motor, it can fly up to 150'. The designer named it “Tim” because it was short, friendly and easy for children in many languages to pronounce. More than 50 years later, it continues to delight children and adults around the world.

Simply wind the crank to store energy in the rubber-band motor, then press the release lever and launch it with a gentle toss. Its tear-resistant nylon and Mylar wings flap as it flies, creating a distinctive fluttering sound, before transitioning into a smooth glide.

The bird has a durable plastic body and an adjustable tail you can use to alter its flight path. Spare rubber bands are included. Measures 10" long with a 16" wingspan.

For best results, use at temperatures above 5°C (40°F), as cold weather can affect the performance of the rubber-band motor.

Suitable for ages 5 and up.
