Q: What's it used for?
A skew chisel's angled edge trims shoulders, dresses end grain and cleans up inside corners that a straight-edged chisel would struggle to reach without tearing the wood.
10S1517 - Narex 1/2" Skew Chisels, pair
With accurately ground chrome-manganese steel blades (hardened to Rc59), these skew chisels are well made by a small firm in the Czech Republic.
Designed to cut cleanly when trimming shoulders, dressing end grain, or tidying inside corners, they have a 30° skew angle and a 25° bevel angle. The blades have a classic design with edges bevelled to a narrow land on each side.
Oval shaped for comfort and control, the stained beech handles resist rolling on a workbench, and have steel hoops and ferrules for durability.
Made to our specifications in an Imperial size, the blades are 1/2" wide. The chisels are 10 3/8" long overall and sold as a pair (one left skew, one right). Excellent value in good-quality chisels.

Yes, having both lets you approach a corner or shoulder from either direction without flipping or fighting the blade's skew angle.
Each blade has a 30° skew to the edge and a 25° bevel, ground to a narrow land on each side for clearance in tight corners.
The blades are chrome-manganese steel hardened to Rc59, a level that holds an edge well while still resharpening easily by hand.
