A shoulder plane (a specialized rabbet plane) is the ultimate tool for trimming a joint to a perfect fit. At 7" long by 11/16" wide, the Veritas medium shoulder plane is proportioned for versatility; it is useful for trimming end grain, cross-grain paring of tenon shoulders or for rebating work along the grain.
