Plywood is hard on a saw. The glue lines and dirt inclusions can quickly dull teeth. This saw has specially hardened teeth to deal with plywood.
Twice as thick as our other dozukis, the kerf is still only 0.040" (about 1mm) wide. The shortened back frame lets you saw through long sheets easily. The 17 tpi, 9 1/2" × 2 3/8" blade cuts quickly but leaves a smooth finish with almost no tear-out. Overall length is 21".
Plywood's glue lines and embedded dirt inclusions dull standard saw teeth quickly. The Japanese plywood saw uses specially hardened teeth designed to cut through these abrasive materials without dulling as rapidly as a conventional blade.
The 17 tpi blade cuts quickly but leaves a smooth finish with almost no tear-out. This makes it a practical choice when cut-edge quality matters, such as for visible cabinet panels or finish plywood.
A standard dozuki back prevents the saw from cutting past a depth limited by the spine height. The shortened back on the plywood saw lets you cut through long sheets without the spine contacting the panel surface, giving a full depth of cut across the blade width.
The kerf is 0.040" (about 1mm) wide – twice as thick as a standard dozuki but still narrow enough to minimize waste when cutting sheet stock to size.
