It is easy to cut and edge profile circular table tops or similar discs using a router. You just take a 4" or 5" wide strip of thin plywood or hard board, fix one end to the base of your router, measure the radius you need along the strip and then what? The dilemma has always been how to securely anchor the strip at the circle center without having to drill a hole in the work.
Our circle-cutting center solves the problem. You fix the pivot base to your work with double-face tape (or hot melt glue), drill a 5/16" dia. hole in the strip and pop it over the 9/16" high pivot post. A brass thumbscrew keeps the strip from accidentally riding up the pivot and slipping off. Remove the pivot when you're done for a blemish-free job.

Drilling a pivot hole leaves a visible hole at the center of the finished circle – acceptable for some applications but unacceptable when the workpiece is a finished panel, tabletop or show surface. The circle-cutting center attaches with tape or hot melt glue so the pivot leaves no mark.
Drill a 5/16" diameter hole in the trammel strip. The hole drops over the 9/16" high pivot post, which accepts this size and locks the strip in place with the brass thumbscrew.
Simply peel or release the double-face tape or allow the hot melt glue to cool and flex off the surface. The pivot base releases cleanly without damaging the workpiece surface.
No, you make your own trammel strip from a piece of 4" or 5" wide thin plywood or hardboard. Fix one end to the router base, drill a 5/16" hole at the desired radius distance, and place it over the pivot post.
