Change it once it stops cutting efficiently or visibly glazes over. A mesh disc like this one tends to last longer than a solid-backed disc because it clears dust as it works.
Start with the coarsest grit the surface needs, typically P80 for stock removal, then work up through P100, P120, P180 and P240 for a finished surface.
