Q: How thick a board can it resaw?
The bandsaw has a 13" resaw capacity and a 17 1/2" ripping width, so it handles thick stock and wide panels.
Rikon 18" Deluxe Bandsaw (10-342)
Distinguished by its larger cutting capacity and more powerful motor, Rikon’s 18" bandsaw sets itself apart from their smaller models with a 17 1/2" ripping width to accommodate large workpieces and a 2 hp motor with the power required to handle thick stock. Additionally, this bandsaw offers a 13" resaw capacity.
It has a floor-to-top welded steel frame to provide rigidity, with increased width to support large stock. An upper guide/blade guard assembly with a rack-and-pinion mechanism permits smooth height adjustments, and a quick-release trunnion system allows easy tilting of the table.
The fence can be switched from a vertical to horizontal orientation for improved safety when working with small stock and easily adjusts to compensate for drift. The included removeable resaw guide has a curved face that acts as a pivot point to let you course correct a board for straight, accurate cuts when resawing. The table also features two T-slots for use with miter gauges and other cutting jigs (available separately).
Rikon bandsaws have low-friction ball-bearing blade guides above and below the table to help prevent twisting and deflection. They can be adjusted without any tools to ensure blade alignment, minimize blade drift and reduce friction. Low-profile knobs secure the bearings, which are spring tensioned to automatically retract during blade changes but are easy to reposition before locking them back down. When you've finished a work session, a release lever lets you instantly loosen blade tension to prevent premature blade fatigue and wear to the saw's bearings, tires and spring.
Backed by a 5-year warranty, the bandsaw comes with a 5/8" × 3 tpi regular-tooth blade. Additional 153" long blades are available. This is a 220V saw, requiring a four-wire electrical plug (you supply) and matching outlet. An optional mobile base is available separately.
