For example, it’s often used as a cushioning liner on the jaws of vises and clamps to help grip work firmly without marring or crushing it, or it can be applied to the surface of a drawer, shelf or plane till, where its non-slip texture helps prevent stored items from shifting and rattling around.
The 1/8" thick, 6" × 36" sheet can be cut to size with scissors and mounted with hide or fish glue, contact cement or PVA adhesive.
