Make It Yourself Leather Journal Cover Kit

We were recently alerted to a labeling concern regarding Elmer's Rubber Cement that we sold between January 2023 and December 2023. This product was included as part of our Make It Yourself Leather Journal Cover Kit. The recall only applies to Elmer's 118 mL (4oz) bottles of Rubber Cement, which do not have certain safety and warning labels required by Health Canada. This product has no safety, performance, or quality issues, nor have there been any reported injuries or incidents. Still, it does not have the proper safety and warning labels required by Canadian authorities, so it can no longer be sold in Canada.

We have removed the rubber cement from sale and notified past purchasers we identified from our records.

If you purchased the Make It Yourself Leather Journal Cover Kit between January 2023 and December 2023 and have not heard from us, we request that you cease using the rubber cement and contact us; one of our Customer Service representatives will be happy to assist you.

Leatherworking is a rewarding handicraft; starting with only a few basic skills and a limited investment in time, equipment and materials, you can quickly make useful and attractive items to last a lifetime. This project makes it straightforward for you to develop this skill as you assemble pieces of vegetable-tanned leather into a practical cover for the Lee Valley Logbook.

You will learn how to punch evenly spaced stitch holes in the leather, how to thread the harness needles for leatherworking, and how to sew the seams using the leapfrog saddle-stitch technique with waxed polyester thread.

The journal cover takes approximately 6 to 8 hours to complete and is suitable for everyone, aged 14 years and up. No sewing experience required; the instructions cover the steps, from threading your needles to stitching with two needles to finishing the seam.

This well-thought-out project kit includes everything you need to make it yourself, including the hand tools.

Components of the kit are listed under the Specifications tab.

You will also have access to the step-by-step video and a downloadable copy of the written instructions.

Available while quantities last.
