Supplied pre-turned to an approximate bowl profile, this blank lets you get right to work on the final form. Not just for turners, it also gives carvers a head start, skipping the laborious task of having to remove the bulk of the waste material first.
Easy to remount on a lathe, the blank is made from Canadian ambrosia maple, a type of maple with a distinctive pattern of contrasting dark streaks caused by wood-boring ambrosia beetles. Measuring about 11” in diameter and 4” thick, the blank has a 7" diameter by 2" deep recess in the center, leaving walls that are about 2" thick, from which you can refine the bowl’s final dimensions.
