What sets these front vises apart is the integral quick-release mechanism, designed for easy operation with one hand. Turn the handle counterclockwise to release and clockwise to re-engage.
Two sizes are available, both with 7/8" dia. steel single-lead Acme screws and double guide rods for smooth operation. The regular vise measures 7 1/4" × 14 3/4" and opens to 8"; the large vise is 10 1/4" × 21 3/4" and opens to 13" (maximum openings are less wooden jaw thickness).
The large vise has an offset screw to permit vertical clamping without skewing. Well made by a small European company, these enable you to incorporate a shop-made quick-release vise into a new bench or retrofit an existing one.
An optional handle is sold separately.

The regular vise, opening to 8", suits most benches; choose the large vise, opening to 13" with an offset screw for vertical clamping, if you regularly work wider stock or need to clamp pieces upright.
Yes, clean any preservative grease and surface rust from the guide rods after unpacking, and lubricate the spindle and guide rods with oil about once a week once installed.
A minimum workbench thickness of 1 1/4" (30mm) is required to fix this front vise securely and let its gravity-assisted locking action work properly.
