In this workshop, you will shape the blade, shaft and grip of a paddle using power and hand tools, and then finish-sand it. You will expand your knowledge of custom paddle making as different types of paddles, types of woods to be used, gluing techniques and finishing options are discussed. Previous paddle making experience is recommended. All tools and materials provided.

Instructor Bio

Doug Cox started doing pyrography in 2001 and is self-taught. He has been an active member of the Saskatchewan Woodworkers Guild for the past 3 years and has taught several pyrography classes to guild members each year since joining. Doug is also a master paddle builder and incorporates his wood burning talents into the paddles he produces.

Registration Requirements

Seating is Limited. Please register early to avoid disappointment. Unless otherwise stated, previous experience is not required to participate in seminars and attendees should be 16 years old or older. Seminar tickets are not available online.

Tools & Materials

All tools and materials will be supplied.

Food & Drink

Beverages are provided at our seminars and a light sandwich lunch is provided at all-day events. Please discuss any special dietary needs with the staff at time of registration. In an effort to reduce waste, we encourage you to bring in your own coffee mug and/or refillable water bottle.

What to Wear

We require that you wear closed shoes (e.g. running shoes) to all seminars.
