Carve Cottonwood Bark Spirits


Cottonwood bark is a great medium for caricature carvings. It is easy to carve, holds detail well, and has a wonderful grain pattern and color that can be enhanced by dry-brush painting techniques. Learn how to safely handle carving tools as you create wood-spirit faces in cottonwood. Finishing options will also be discussed. All tools and materials supplied.

Instructor Bio

Paul Giasson is a Winnipeg traditional carver who specialize in bark wood spirits and caricature carvings. Paul brings many years of experience who carves with many local clubs and is also a member with Prairie Canada Carvers Association. At present time he is the president of Les Gens de Bois carving club.

Registration Requirements

Seating is Limited. Please register early to avoid disappointment. Unless otherwise stated, previous experience is not required to participate in seminars and attendees should be 16 years old or older. Seminar tickets are not available online.

Tools & Materials

All tools and materials will be supplied.

Food & Drink

Beverages are provided at our seminars and a light sandwich lunch is provided at all-day events. Please discuss any special dietary needs with the staff at time of registration. In an effort to reduce waste, we encourage you to bring in your own coffee mug and/or refillable water bottle.

What to Wear

We require that you wear closed shoes (e.g. running shoes) to all seminars.
