Cyanoacrylate glues are both fast-curing and strong. Unlike water-based glues, they don’t cure by losing water (the solvent); they use water molecules to start the process of polymerization, the linking of glue molecules into long chains that bond surfaces together. A spray accelerator (available separately) can be used to promote nearly instant initial curing.
Our general-purpose CA glues are available in six viscosities, with drying time and gap-filling properties increasing with viscosity. For filling knots and voids, we offer a medium-viscosity black CA. The Platinum thin and thick CA glues are suitable for use on foam and are also odorless.
Drying times given are approximate; they can vary significantly depending on the materials being glued. For example, C-Bond medium glue has a drying time of 10 to 30 seconds for aluminum but 20 to 50 seconds for steel. While substantially cured when dry, the adhesive reaches full cure after about 24 hours.
Viscosity is expressed in “centipoise” (cps), where water is 1 centipoise, light cream is 20 centipoise and honey is 2000+ centipoise (ketchup is 50,000!). The regular C-Bond glues have an operating temperature range of -50° to 80°C, while the Platinum glues have an operating temperature range of -40 to 130°C .
All glue bottles have a child-resistant and anti-clog cap to prevent drying and extend the shelf life of the adhesive. Unopened shelf life is 12 to 18 months.
Available CA glue accessories include two formats of accelerator (spray and mist), a debonder and disposable whip-tips for precise glue placement.
