Old Masters® Penetrating Stains
An oil-based, fast-drying penetrating stain suitable for open- and closed-grain woods. For interior use only, the viscous stain requires no thinning and applies easily with a brush, pad or spray unit. Best suited for bare wood applications, the stain penetrates quickly and produces a rich, fade-resistant finish. Simply apply stain, leave to penetrate for 2 to 5 minutes, then wipe off excess. The longer you leave the stain to penetrate, the darker the stain. Apply additional coats if a very dark tint is desired. The stain requires about 4 hours drying time and can be top coated with most clear coatings, including lacquer. Colors can be intermixed for custom color blends. Available in quart (946ml/32 fl oz) containers.
Old Masters® Wiping Stains
An oil-based, semi-transparent pigment stain suitable for bare wood application or as a glaze over a previously finished project. The slow-drying formula permits good color control and is well suited for coloring open-grain woods (the pigments collect in pores and accentuate the grain). Easy to use, the stain is applied, left to penetrate for 5 to 15 minutes depending on the depth of color desired, then excess wiped off. Wiping stains require about 12 hours drying time and can be top coated with most clear finishes, including lacquer. Colors can be intermixed for custom color blends. Available in quart (946ml/32 fl oz) containers.
Old Masters® Gel Stains
A thixotropic oil-based gel stain good for use on wood, fiberglass, metal and composition surfaces. Though a thick stain requiring application with a firm brush or soft pad, it is easy to use and provides excellent non-blotching coverage on difficult-to-stain woods such as pine, birch, cherry, plywood and veneers. In use, apply liberally, leave to penetrate for 5 to 15 minutes depending on the color intensity desired, then wipe off excess. With a drying time of about 8 hours, the gel stains can be top coated with most clear coats, including polyurethane, varnish and oils. Available in pint (473ml/16 fl oz) containers.
