Companions to the Beall wood-buffing system, these buff sets are for finishing the inside of bowls and other concave forms. Each set includes three buffs of the same diameter, each marked with a color-coded ring to identify the finishing compound used with that buff, helping prevent cross-contamination of compounds.
Red is for use with tripoli compound, white is for diamond compound, and yellow is for carnauba wax (compounds are sold separately). Polishing in this sequence removes scratches without softening crisp details, and results in a finish that is close to a multi-coat lacquer in appearance, yet is achieved in minutes. 2" diameter buffs are all linen/cotton; for the 3" and 4" diameter sizes, sets include one each of linen, linen/cotton, and cotton/flannel buffs.
Adapters are sold separately. The 3-3/4" long aluminum quick-change adapter is used to attach the buffs to 1/2" or 5/8" motor shafts (note: if you own the Beall Wood Buff system, you already have this adapter). For lathe mounting, a #2 Morse taper is needed, used in combination with the quick-change adapter. The buffing mandrel extender adds 3" to the quick-change adapter, for additional headstock/motor clearance when working with deep vessels.
