Lee Valley A2 and O1 Steel Plane Blades

For replacement blades for other manufacturer's planes, e.g. Stanley or Record, we offer top-quality blades in either A2 or O1 high-carbon tool steel.

Our bench plane blades are 0.094" (3/32") thick, 17% thicker than the industry standard of 0.080". Increased thickness reduces chatter. All are 7" long, have a 30° bevel, and are compatible with almost all makes of the plane sizes listed.

Due to slight manufacturing variations over the last 100 years, the pawl on the end of the lateral adjust lever on older planes may have to be filed slightly in order to fit into the blade slot. Width of plane blades and plane model numbers are listed below.

Blades for block planes are 0.125" (1/8") thick and have a 25° bevel. The grooves in the blades are for the rear depth-adjustment mechanism. Determine the correct blade for your plane by checking the width; it will either be 1-3/8" (low-angle, 60-1/2 style) or
1-5/8" (standard 9-1/2 style).

The British-made Stanley planes we carry have a lateral adjust lever and require a 5/8" slot (3 grooves). Planes without a lateral adjust lever require a 7/16" slot (older American-made Stanley block planes, 8 grooves on blade).
