Designed and made by the Horl family in Freiburg, in Germany’s Black Forest region, the sharpeners combine high-quality materials with an elegant design. Compact and attractive enough to keep on the kitchen counter rather than packed away in a drawer, they remain close at hand for regular touch-ups. The roller and angle support are faced in solid wood, available in oak or walnut. Cushioned magnetic faces protect the blade and provide a secure hold, while four non-slip feet stabilize the support on a countertop.

Combines the straightforward operation of the HORL rolling system with faster material removal and a wider selection of sharpening angles.
Choosing a HORL Sharpener
The HORL 3 Cruise is the straightforward entry model. Made from recycled ocean-bound plastic, it has permanently fitted diamond and stainless-steel discs and includes a support with 15° and 20° settings. The 15° setting produces a fine edge suited to precise cutting and many hard, thin-bladed knives. The more robust 20° setting is suitable for general-purpose kitchen knives and edges exposed to heavier use.
The wood-bodied HORL 3 adds a ceramic honing disc and the Quick Lock system, which permits fast changes among the optional sharpening and finishing discs. Available in oak or walnut, it combines wide-ranging capability with a compact form suitable for keeping close at hand on the kitchen counter.
The HORL 3 Pro has an aluminum body and internal planetary gearing. For every rotation of the roller housing, the abrasive disc turns three times, greatly speeding the sharpening process. Its adjustable support expands the range to six angles: 10°, 13°, 15°, 20°, 22° and 25°, allowing the edge geometry to be tailored more closely to the knife and its intended use.
