Each ornament in this series depicts a notable moment or memory from our company's past. We commissioned artist, designer and woodworker Gaétan Courchesne to illustrate and produce them for us.
The image on our First Product ornament commemorates the practical wood-burning barrel stove kit that started it all in 1977. Each stove kit, including a weighty door cast with the Lee Valley name, was hand-packed by the Lee family and orders were mailed to customers all over Canada.
Next in the series is the First Catalog ornament, marking our first mail-order catalog published in 1978.
The third ornament is The Workshop, a recreation of a 1986/87 catalog cover that was beloved by customers and staff alike. In the 2019 version, Gaétan has added a new member to the family – a little girl waiting for her dollhouse to be finished.
Produced in Gatineau, Québec, these 1 1/2" diameter maple balls make charming collectible keepsakes or seasonal gifts.
At our stores (pick-up only), we offer versions of these ornaments in limited quantities with the name of the city where the ornament is purchased shown on the reverse.
