Q: What is a miter gauge?
A miter gauge is a table saw accessory that slides in the miter slot and lets you make angled cross cuts by pivoting the workpiece against a fence, rather than guiding it only with the rip fence.
86N6003 - Incra Miter 3000SE Gauge
Known for accuracy, ease of use, and sturdy construction, an Incra miter gauge is an excellent upgrade for any table saw.
The 3000SE is Incra’s largest-capacity gauge. While the 1000SE has stops every 5°, this gauge indexes in 0.5° increments over its 180° range. It also has a much longer fence at 27" (extendable to 48 1/2").
The protractor head has a patented indexing system for quick, positive adjustment. A vernier scale provides precise adjustment to 6 minutes (1/10°). The extruded aluminum fence has a T-track to mount a sub-fence, and an integral scale for direct reading. Adjustable expansion discs in the 3/8" × 3/4" table bars provide low-friction travel and remove lateral play within the miter slot.
A micro-adjust stop allows repeatable cuts, and has dual flip arms that are used together or independently for different set-ups. The flip arms interlock with the fence to prevent lifting by a mitered workpiece. Reversible for use either side of the saw blade, this is an accurate and versatile table-saw accessory.
Usable right or left of the saw blade, this is an excellent gauge for larger table saws or those with a table extension.
Made in the USA from plated heavy-gauge steel and aluminum. The angular accuracy is 1/50 of a degree. A hex tool is included for adjustments.

Not necessarily. This gauge's table bars measure 3/8" × 3/4", and while that fits many table saws' miter slots, it's worth confirming your saw's slot dimensions before ordering.
You set the protractor head to the desired angle, index it against the stops, and slide the gauge's bar through the saw's miter slot to guide the workpiece into the blade at that angle.
The micro-adjust stop's dual flip arms let you set a fixed reference for repeat cuts at the same angle, and they interlock with the fence so a mitered workpiece can't lift them out of position.
Yes, the Incra 3000SE miter gauge is reversible, so it can be used to the right or left of the blade, which is especially useful on larger saws or ones with a table extension.
