88K8963 - Seam Ripper & Sewing Stiletto Hardware
This hardware provides all the metal parts needed to make a double-ended tailor's tool that's invaluable in any sewing room. Constructed much like a turned pen, the handle can be made from the turning blank material of your choice.
At one end, the seam-ripper's J-shaped tip is designed for quickly undoing stitching. At the other end, the needle-like stiletto tip is a versatile tool for tasks from teasing out trapped threads to pinning layers of fabric together when sewing the ends of seams.
Both tips are made of manganese steel with a chrome finish on all decorative elements. The shank of each tool tip simply press-fits into the brass tube set within the handle you turn; an included retaining spring holds the shank firmly but permits easy removal, so you can turn the tip around to conceal it within the handle to carry it safely in a pocket.
Requires a standard "A" mandrel, a bushing set, an 8mm drill bit, and a minimum 5/8" × 3 1/2" turning blank, all sold separately. Because mishaps can occur during turning or assembly, we also offer brass replacement tubes.Tool tips are also available separately.
