Description

This is a reproduction of the original Welsh miner’s lamp, manufactured in Wales since 1815 when Sir Humphry Davy invented it. Intended for domestic use, this lamp differs from the original both in price and in not having flash-arresting baffling, which prevented explosions in the coal-dust-laden air of mines. Fuelled with lamp oil or kerosene, it gives a warm yellow light and a cheerful ambience to a porch, deck or patio, and is bright enough to illuminate a hand of hearts or rummy. Made largely from brass, it is handsome and functions well out of doors. 9" tall without the hook. Includes funnel.

Made in Wales.
