Description

The woodspirit is a symbol of good fortune that dates back to ancient legends and folklore. Carving a woodspirit doesn’t seem nearly so difficult once the process has been broken into steps and each step explained.

These two veteran carvers use a walking stick project as a basis to lead beginners through their first steps and help them develop their woodcarving skills. Each cut is well described and illustrated, and set in the context of facial anatomy so that the nose, eyes and mouth are proportionally correct.

Lists of tools and materials for carving are included, as well as tips, patterns and a gallery of completed woodspirits. Spiral bound, it lies flat at any open page.

Softcover, 8 1/2" × 11", 63 pages, 2013.
