Description

As editor of the influential British magazine The Woodworker from 1939 to 1967, Charles H. Hayward had a lasting impact on the craft, contributing a huge amount of writing on virtually every aspect of working with wood.

This two-volume set compiles a selection of over 400 articles Hayward wrote or edited, reprinted with his original drawings, diagrams and photographs (over 2000 in all).

Volume I covers essential hand tools: chisels, planes and saws, as well as tools for boring, carving and turning, with insight into their design, function and maintenance, including sharpening. Volume II focuses on techniques, from design to finishing and everything in between, complemented by a wide range of woodworking projects.

Remarkable for the breadth and detail of their coverage, these books serve as a comprehensive guide to the practice of woodworking by one of its leading figures in the 20th century.

Sold as a two-volume set. Hardcover, 8" × 10", 888 pages (total of both volumes), 2016. Other books in this series are available separately.
