Founded in 1983 by designer and craftsman John Economaki, Bridge City Tools has long been known for its often unique and always aspirational tools.
Think of these as the Swiss Army knives of joinery layout. Each includes a cam-lock sliding bevel blade, 1:6 and 1:8 dovetail saddle squares, and a 90° saddle square, letting you perform a range of related layout operations, all with a single compact tool that fits in an apron pocket.
Of course, their utility isn’t limited to joinery – as with any decent sliding bevel, they can also be used for machine set-up, checking cuts and assemblies, and more.
The pocket-size MT-2 version has a 3 1/2" bevel blade and a clip to help keep it close at hand; the larger MT-1 has a 7 3/4" blade with a 1:8 slope dovetail marker cut-out, as well as a pencil slot at the rounded end to help scribe a line parallel to an edge.
With all components precisely milled for accuracy, both models have stocks and saddle square blades made of anodized aluminum with hardened stainless-steel bevel blades that resist scoring from a marking knife.
Superbly engineered, these tools have real workshop utility that exceeds their irresistible good looks.
