Quantity:
Developed by renowned woodturner Ashley Harwood, this gouge is for making the tricky finishing cut inside the bottom of a bowl or on the face of a platter.
It measures 13 3/4" from bolster to tip for reach into the bottom of deep bowls. To present the best cutting angle to the work, it has a shallow U-shaped flute and is ground with minimal wing back sweep (5°) and a steep bevel (50°). At only 4 1/2" long, the flute is much shorter than on other gouges to help minimize vibration when cutting at a distance from the tool rest.
Robust and finely finished, it is milled from 3/4" M2 HSS rod (hardened to Rc62-64) and sharpened to a long-lasting edge.
The unique bolster permits it to interlock with the Ashley Harwood handles (sold separately) to provide quick blade changes and safe, compact storage within the handles.
A premium-quality tool, made in USA.
