86H0614 - 7/8" Double-Bearing Compression Bit
Quantity:
Combining upcut flutes at the tip and down-cut flutes at the shank end, this bit leaves a clean, chip-free edge on both faces of the workpiece. Because this flute pattern evacuates chips less aggressively than other flush-trim bits, it works best at a slower feed rate to prevent clogging and overheating.
The flutes cut with a continuous shearing action, which helps the guide bearings follow a template precisely by minimizing chatter. To retain their sharpness through extended use, the flutes are made of solid carbide brazed onto a steel shank.
The double-bearing design is a good choice for template work involving complex curves with alternating grain. As grain direction changes, you can simply stop the bit, flip the workpiece and template, then adjust the bit height to approach the cut from the other direction.
The 3 3/4" long bit has a 7/8" cut diameter, a 1 1/8" cut height and a 1/2" shank.
