Description
Used by blacksmiths and gunsmiths for centuries, this finish can be applied to any ferrous metals other than stainless steel to impart a distinctive, aged patina. Unlike paints or dyes, this treatment reacts chemically with the surface of the metal to alter its color.
The browning finish requires the metal surface to be heated to about 275°F (135°C) before the treatment is brushed on. Each 5 fl oz (90ml) bottle treats approximately 5 sq.ft., based on a typical application of three coats (multiple applications yield a deeper hue).
