Description

An ancient form of Japanese latticework traditionally used in shoji screens and sliding doors, kumiko allows you to create decorative panels by assembling small wooden pieces into geometric patterns.

As kumiko techniques require precisely dimensioned stock that can be challenging or time-consuming to produce, we offer these pre-cut basswood bars that are planed and accurately sized so you can use them right away. Though not the material traditionally used in Japan, basswood is an excellent choice because of its indistinct grain and moderately soft texture that permits a small amount of compression for joints to fit snugly.

The 24" long by 1/2" wide bars are available in 5/32" and 9/32" thicknesses. Sold in packages of 10.
