If you’ve always wanted to try casting epoxy, this is an excellent way to learn.
Making coasters is also a great way to engage kids with a simple craft while creating personalized gifts; the kids select and arrange objects to embed in the epoxy, and the adult does the mixing and pouring.
Each kit includes four flexible silicone coaster molds in your choice of round, square or hexagon along with enough epoxy to cast multiple coasters. The round mold measures approximately 4 1/2" in diameter and produces a 4 1/4" coaster. The 4 1/4" square mold creates a 4" coaster, while the 4 1/4" wide hexagonal mold creates a 4" coaster.
The kit also includes 500ml of epoxy (250ml resin and 250ml hardener, mixed in a 1:1 ratio), allowing you to make up to four coasters depending on thickness and waste. It cures clear, with UV inhibitors to help prevent yellowing over time.
Once mixed, the epoxy has a 30 to 40 minute working time and sets in 4 to 10 hours. It fully cures in 48 hours at 18° to 25°C (65° to 77°F) with humidity below 70%. Stored in a sealed container, it has a 1-year shelf life.
