Paints

Many woodworkers are reluctant to paint their projects, but paint can be a versatile, attractive option. Apart from adding color, it provides moderate protection against moisture and abrasion. Paint can also emphasize the form and composition of a piece by reducing the visual prominence of the wood grain. The three paints we offer differ in appearance, application and durability. Made from milk protein, lime and natural pigments, powdered milk paint is supplied as a powder that is mixed with water before use. By varying the amount of water used, you can create effects, ranging from a translucent wash that allows the grain to show through to a more opaque finish that largely conceals it. Its matte appearance suits period furniture, cabinetry, toys and decorative objects. Water-based and virtually odorless, it can be left as is or protected with a topcoat of oil, wax or varnish. It is intended for interior use. Allbäck paint is made from purified linseed oil and finely ground pigments. Rather than forming a thick surface film, it penetrates the wood, highlighting details and surface texture while providing excellent weather resistance. Depending on application, it can range from semi-transparent to fully opaque. Suitable for both interior and exterior use, it is particularly well suited to outdoor furniture, doors, windows and trim. Despite its name, General milk paint contains no milk protein. It is a modern water-based acrylic paint formulated to reproduce the soft colors and appearance associated with traditional milk paint while offering the convenience of contemporary coatings. Ready to use straight from the container, it provides predictable coverage, excellent adhesion and a durable finish that resists everyday wear. Its uniform appearance and ease of application make it a practical choice for furniture, cabinetry and household projects.
