Linseed Oil Paints
Founded in Sweden in 1982, Allbäck draws on centuries-old Scandinavian finishing traditions to produce paints made from just two primary ingredients: purified linseed oil and finely ground pigments. Long used for restoration work in Europe, these paints are valued for their durability, versatility and ease of maintenance. Unlike modern paints that form a film on the surface, linseed oil paint penetrates the wood, allowing moisture to escape while helping to protect the substrate. This helps reduce the risk of cracking, peeling and flaking over time. Suitable for both interior and exterior use, it adheres well to clean, porous surfaces, including wood, masonry and plaster. The paint can be applied in varying degrees of opacity. A single coat provides color while still allowing the grain to show through; additional coats produce a progressively more opaque finish. For exterior work, three coats are typically recommended for maximum durability and weather resistance. Ideal for furniture, doors, windows, trim and outdoor structures, Allbäck paint develops character as it ages and is easily renewed when required with linseed oil, linseed oil wax or an additional coat of paint, typically without extensive surface preparation.
