Japanese-style gauges have tapered blades that cut wood fibers rather than tear them. These are well-made hardwood versions.
- Produces a fine cut-line and prevents tear-out when sawing
- Single-stem marking gauge has a wedge-secured 7" stem and a 4 3/4" long fence, rounded on the underside for smooth travel over surfaces
- Double-stem mortise gauge has a 5 3/8" long fence and can be used in-line for marking parallel lines or with bevels facing for sure mortise sizing and chisel registration
- Both 6" stems secured with a thumbscrew, with a steel rub plate to avoid stem marring
